The livelihoods sector in India encompasses a wide range of activities and opportunities aimed at improving the economic well-being of individuals and communities. It plays a pivotal role in addressing poverty, reducing unemployment, and promoting economic growth. However, India faces several challenges in this sector:

Unemployment: India has a vast and diverse workforce, but the creation of sufficient job opportunities to absorb this workforce remains a significant challenge, especially among marginalized communities.
Skills Gap:There exists a notable gap between the skills possessed by job seekers and the skills required by employers, which hinders employability.

Education is the foundation upon which sustainable livelihoods are built. By providing individuals with access to quality education and relevant skills training, we empower them to secure better employment opportunities, break the cycle of poverty, and contribute to the growth of India’s economy. Conversely, a thriving economy generates more resources for investing in education, creating a positive feedback loop that benefits society as a whole.

Less than 5% of India’s workforce has received formal skill training, as reported by McKinsey.
In 2019, the International Labour Organization (ILO) noted that the informal sector in India accounted for over 80% of the non-agricultural workforce.
